What constitutes nursing care?
Nursing care is there for people: conveying reassurance and safety in an environment the patient is unaccustomed to, being aware of the needs of each patient, providing qualified integrated care: this is what characterises the aspirations and reality of nursing care at Bergmannsheil. The welfare of the patients is catered for by 750 or so staff.
“Healing and helping by all suitable means“ – this guiding principle of occupational accident insurance also sets the high standard of Bergmannsheil’s nursing care, which is reflected in the care provided to patients. The high level of the staff’s professional qualifications is characteristic of our aspirations as regards our nursing care: more than 95 percent are qualified nurses and many of them have a specialised knowledge of fields such as surgical and intensive care, pain therapy and wound care.
Bergmannsheil is mainly responsible for this training: the Bildungszentrum Bergmannsheil (BZB) (Bergmannsheil Training Centre) provides for the basic, advanced and further training of its own nursing staff at a high professional level. Cooperation with the Hochschule für Gesundheit in Bochum (HSG), University of Witten/Herdecke with their Nursing Science Institute provide for a constructive interplay between nursing theory and practice. The result: care from person to person – based on the latest scientific knowledge.
